Some Key Developments
BRUTUS – a completely remote pipeline connection system, for pipes of up to 24” diameter, in depths of over 3,000m
Oil Recovery System – a system comprising tools for measuring oil levels in a sunken oil tanker, locating beams under the deck, hot tapping into the deck and installing a dual valve system for releasing the oil.
Mardi Gras Transportation System Pipeline Repair System – a comprehensive pipeline repair system modified from similar Sonsub repair systems. Comprised of a diamond wire saw, FBE and weld seam removal tool, ovality measurement tool and end preparation tool. Sonsub was charged with the design, manufacture, operation, storage and maintenance of this system - similar to the Diverless Pipeline Repair System (DSRS) developed for Shell in 2000.
Jacket Cutting Packages – specifically developed by Sonsub in cooperation with third-party suppliers for the decommissioning of platforms. This extensive set of tools consists of a diamond wire cutting tool, abrasive water cutting system, guillotine cutters and relevant deployment and monitoring systems.
